Sarracenia x Purpurea Venosa is a compact, herbaceous, evergreen perennial. It has squat, green pitchers patterned with dark purple veins. The hoods are upright and flared. The outside of the pitchers have a rough, downy surface. In spring, the plant produces deep purple flowers.
SizeAdult pitchers can reach up to approximately 10-30cm.
LightSun-loving plant. Requires a minimum of 5 hours full sunlight a day in the growing season.
Water Stand in a saucer containing 3-4 centimeters of water. Let plant drink from the bottom. Keep soil moist but not waterlogged. Use mineral free water such as rain, reverse osmosis or distilled water for optimum plant health.
Dormancy Plant goes dormant in autumn and dormancy continues until spring. The leaves will turn brown. New pitcher leaves appear in spring and summer replacing old leaves that die and fall off.Reduce water to twice a week during dormancy and place plant in a cooler spot.
