Jozi Carnivores Kyalami

It started with a Venus flytrap

It started with a Venus flytrap

When I was a little girl, I owned a Venus flytrap. I loved it, but I had no idea how to care for it and it didn’t last long.

More than 30 years later, I bought another one for my daughter. Before long, she announced that her Venus flytrap was “bored and lonely.”

So we found it some friends.

That simple search introduced us to the extraordinary world of carnivorous plants.

A little curiosity. A lot of learning.

Learning as we grew

What started as a small collection quickly became something much bigger.

We made mistakes, lost plants and learned the hard way. Over time, we invested in proper growing tunnels, rainwater systems and the right environment for our plants to thrive.

That experience became the knowledge we now share with our customers.

Plants brought us together

Growing Jozi Carnivores

Jozi Carnivores grew through markets, trade shows, local nurseries and a growing community of plant lovers, with education and conservation at its heart.

When COVID-19 brought much of this activity to a halt in 2020, we adapted through online sales and education, while developing our Kyalami nursery on a beautiful farm.

Now, in the 2026–2027 season, we continue to share our plants, knowledge and passion.

Still growing. Still curious.

Jozi Carnivores today

Today, Jozi Carnivores is based at our nursery in Kyalami.

We grow and sell carnivorous plants, support customers with practical care advice, sell online and welcome visitors, schools and families to experience these remarkable plants for themselves.
